Schools The municipality is divided into 7 primary schools districts. As a resident of Tinn your child has the right to attend the school in the school district in which you reside.. For children from 1st to 4th grades, all municipal primary schools provide an after-school activity programme for children on the school premises (called SFO in Norwegian). All children in Norway registered with the Office of the National Public Registrar are automatically given a place at the school in their school district in October of the year they turn 5. Health
Health care services in Tinn Municipality is located to Rjukan legesenter / health clinics, a maternity care centre, as well as a range of other services such as physiotherapy and ergotherapy. All residents of the municipality have the right to a personal doctor.
Municipal health clinics provide free health care for children up to age 5. All children are examined at regular intervals and provided with vaccinations. In addition, clinics offer home visits for newborns, establishment of mother-and-child groups, counselling and specialist referrals.For young people between the ages of 12 and 24, the municipal health clinics provide counselling and information on issues like sexuality, sexually transmitted diseases, drugs, family and relationships.
The municipality offers maternity care to pregnant women. They may choose themselves to go to a midwife or a doctor. Maternity care involves regular check ups and counselling, as well as reservation of ultrasound and registration at the hospital. Home birthing is still fairly uncommon in Norway, though there are growing numbers of midwives qualified to perform home births. Building and renovating
If you are planning to build or renovate a house, you will require approval of your plan from Tinn Municipality before you can proceed, and should therefore become familiar with the relevant municipal rules and regulations.
